No Special Treatment for Softeners, Filtration Systems in CA
Friday, October 23, 2009
Water treatment units, designed to deliver water for human consumption and cooking, are receiving no special treatment from the Golden State and its new lead-free legislation. Effective January 1, 2010 water treatment devices, like their plumbing fitting counterparts, will be required to meet the lead-free definition of California's new law, AB 1953.
A guidance memo from the California Department of Health, expected to be released before the end of October, will state that drinking water treatment units (such as softeners, reverse osmosis and water filtration systems) must comply with the new law although certification is optional. More to come...
